Ingredients (Serves 2-3)
For the Tteokbokki:
2 cups Korean rice cakes (tteok)
3 cups water
1 sheet fish cake, sliced (optional)
½ small onion, sliced
1 green onion, chopped
1 boiled egg (optional)
For the Sauce:
2 tbsp gochujang (Korean red pepper paste)
1 tbsp gochugaru (Korean red pepper flakes)
1 tbsp soy sauce
1 tbsp sugar
1 tsp minced garlic
1 tsp sesame oil
Instructions
Step 1: Prepare the Rice Cakes
If using frozen rice cakes, soak them in warm water for 10 minutes to soften.
Step 2: Make the Sauce
In a bowl, mix gochujang, gochugaru, soy sauce, sugar, garlic, and sesame oil.
Step 3: Cook the Tteokbokki
In a pan, bring 3 cups of water to a boil.
Add the sauce and stir until dissolved.
Add the rice cakes, fish cakes, and onions. Simmer for 8-10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce thickens.
Garnish with green onions and a boiled egg.
